Shilajit Comparison 2026: Lab Reports of 39 European Products Side by Side (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Arsenic, Fulvic Acid)

Shilajit Comparison 2026: Lab Reports of 39 European Products Side by Side (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Arsenic, Fulvic Acid)

Quick answer: what do the lab reports say?

On 29 October 2026 we read the publicly available laboratory reports of 39 shilajit products from 33 brands sold in 12 European countries and the United Kingdom, and copied the measured values literally. The main lines:

  • 33 of the 39 reports contain measured values for all four heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic). Three documents only state "conforms" without numbers; the others miss one or more metals.
  • 26 reports come from a laboratory in the EU or the United Kingdom. The others come from India, the United States or Russia, or do not name a laboratory.
  • 9 samples were bulk or raw material (100 g to 20 kg) rather than the pack a customer buys. 9 reports state no batch number, so the report cannot be tied to a jar.
  • All measured values for lead, cadmium and mercury are below the EU maximum levels for food supplements (lead 3.0, cadmium 1.0, mercury 0.10 mg/kg, Regulation (EU) 2023/915). Lead ranges from below 0.01 mg/kg to 1.155 mg/kg, arsenic from 0.044 to 2.9 mg/kg. There is no general EU maximum for arsenic.
  • Fulvic acid was measured for 18 products, with values from 5.27 % to 89.17 %. The methods differ (titration, gravimetry, HPLC, dry-matter basis or not), so these percentages are not comparable one to one.
  • Vitadote itself appears in the table with the certificate of our producer (batch VD202603: lead 0.022, cadmium 0.088, arsenic 0.31, mercury <0.002 mg/kg, fulvic acid 81.0 %). That is a certificate on 20 kg of bulk from a Russian-accredited laboratory, not an EU report on the jar. An independent EU batch test of batch VD202610 is being commissioned; the results will be published on this page.

At Vitadote we have sold Altai shilajit as resin and tablets since 2018, HACCP and GMP certified, NVWA-verified (REF 202341141-V02).

Why this comparison, and who made it

This comparison was compiled by Vitadote (eCom IT B.V., Zaandam, the Netherlands). We sell shilajit ourselves. We say that first, because you need to know it to judge the table. To keep the comparison useful, the same rules apply to us as to every other brand:

  • Every value in the table was read by us from the linked report, not copied from a comparison site. The link to the original report is in every row, so you can check every number yourself.
  • We give no score, no stars and no ranking. The table is in alphabetical order of brand. You can sort it on any column yourself.
  • For every report we note what is missing: no batch number, bulk sample, high limit of quantification, a producer's document instead of a laboratory report. We do the same for ourselves.
  • Brands that claim "lab tested" but publish no report are not in the table. On 29 October 2026 we looked at more than 150 other products for which we found no public report.

If a brand finds an error in its row, we correct it after checking the report. Use the contact page.

How to read the table

Five things decide whether a lab report says anything about the jar you buy:

  1. Who took the sample. For almost every report the seller sent in a sample itself. Only for two reports in the table (Green Helpers and Human Pro, both at the exporter in India) did the laboratory take the sample.
  2. What the sample was. A report on 300 g of bulk or 20 kg of raw material says something about the lot, not about the pack in the shop. The "Sample" column states whether it was the retail pack.
  3. The batch number. Without a batch number you cannot link the report to the jar in your hand.
  4. The limit of quantification. "<0.01" means: not detectable above 0.01 mg/kg. A laboratory that only measures mercury from 0.2 mg/kg upwards cannot show that the product is below the EU maximum of 0.10. That is why the mercury limit of quantification is a separate field in the dataset.
  5. The laboratory and its accreditation. A report from a laboratory with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation by an EU or UK body (RvA, DAkkS, COFRAC, UKAS, PCA, ENAC) is the most common reference in Europe. Reports from India (NABL) and Russia (RusAccreditation) are formally accredited too, but European comparison sites often weigh them differently.

Heavy metals are given in mg/kg as reported. Fulvic acid is given in percent as reported, with a note when it was determined on a dry-matter basis.

What stands out in the numbers

EU laboratories consistently measure more lead in Altai resin than producer certificates state. The table contains four measurements of Altai resin by accredited EU laboratories: Mountaindrop Altai (J.S. Hamilton, lead 0.84 mg/kg), Dancing Shiva (AGROLAB, 0.90), Primal Supplements (Phytocontrol, 0.78) and Kenzi (J.S. Hamilton, 0.99). That last report concerns lot 07.00700 of the product "Siberian Healer" from our producer Avicenna. The certificate of that same producer gives lead 0.022 mg/kg for our batch VD202603. All these values are below the EU maximum of 3.0 mg/kg, but the gap between certificate and EU measurement is why we are having batch VD202610 measured in the EU and will publish the outcome here, whatever it is.

The lowest measured lead values are at Naumuna (<0.01), Nature Heart capsules (<0.020), Human Pro (0.023), Shilafit (0.031), HimalayaKraft (0.040) and Green Helpers (0.052). Three of those six reports state no batch number, and the Human Pro and Green Helpers reports come from Eurofins India.

The highest measured values are lead 1.155 mg/kg (YAJU tablets, US laboratory, 2024) and arsenic 2.9 mg/kg (RAW Shilajit, Eurofins UK, 2024) and 2.439 mg/kg (Ayor Health, Eurofins UK, 2025). There is no general EU maximum for arsenic in food supplements; these are total arsenic values, and no report measured the toxic inorganic form separately.

Limits of quantification differ enormously. AGQ Labs (Iris Black Gold) reports lead only from 0.400 mg/kg, EkotechLAB (Biomental) reports mercury only from 0.2 mg/kg, which is above the EU maximum. J.S. Hamilton measures mercury down to 0.0010 and BAV Institut down to 0.0017 mg/kg. A "<" therefore only means something together with the limit behind it.

"Eurofins tested" often means Eurofins India. Seven reports in the table come from Eurofins Analytical Services India (Bangalore or Gurugram): AMAS Organics, Green Helpers, Human Pro, KIKI Health, Montavita, Shamballa and Vifungi. Montavita calls this "EU lab-tested" on its own site. That laboratory is NABL-accredited, but in five of the seven cases it did not take the sample itself and sometimes received 100 to 150 g of bulk instead of the retail pack.

Fulvic acid is not a comparable measure. The 18 reported percentages come from titration (Eurofins India), gravimetry (Certified Laboratories), HPLC-UV (Analytice) and an unnamed method (Delhi ARL). Some are calculated on dry matter (AMAS 89.17 %, E.B. Nature 69.7 %, RAW 56.8 %), others not. Masters of Shilajit measures 32.89 %, Mountaindrop Himalayan 81.68 %, our batch VD202603 81.0 % (titration, producer certificate). Only compare percentages determined with the same method on the same basis.

Age of the reports. Seven reports are older than 18 months; the oldest (Herbatica, Vital Nutrition) date from 2023. A report only says something about the batch tested at the time.

Vitadote in this table: what our certificate is and is not

We appear in the table with two rows, and we describe them as critically as the rest.

What it is. Our certificate for batch VD202603 was issued by our producer TOO Avicenna Export (Astana). It names as the testing laboratory the Altai Central Scientific and Methodological Veterinary Laboratory, with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation certificate РОСС RU.0001.21ПШ40 (RusAccreditation). Values: lead 0.022, cadmium 0.088, arsenic 0.31, mercury <0.002 mg/kg, fulvic acid 81.0 %, humic acid 8.14 %. For the tablets, batch VD202601: lead 0.32, cadmium 0.125, arsenic 0.09, mercury <0.002 mg/kg, fulvic acid 82.3 %.

What it is not. It is not a report from an EU laboratory, the sample was 20 kg of bulk and not a jar from the shop, and it is the producer's certificate, not the original laboratory report with the limits of quantification per metal. A European comparison site therefore rightly did not accept it as an independent report.

What we are doing. We have requested quotes from accredited European laboratories for a batch test of resin and tablets of our newest batch VD202610, on the retail pack, for lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic, with a mercury limit of quantification of at most 0.001 mg/kg. As soon as the report arrives, we will replace our rows in this table with those figures, including the limits of quantification, even if they turn out higher than the certificate. The dataset is licensed under CC BY-ND 4.0, so anyone may reuse it unchanged with attribution.

What is already established. Vitadote has sold since 2018, is HACCP and GMP certified, is NVWA-verified (REF 202341141-V02), holds KOAG/KAG approvals for website (REF 10156-0924-1748) and packaging (REF 10156-0524-913), a Belgian FOD notification (NUT AS 5557/1) and Romanian notifications (20268 resin, 20269 tablets). Rating: 4.7/5 from 278+ customer reviews on online marketplaces and websites.

Checklist: how to judge a shilajit lab report yourself

  1. Is there a batch number on the report, and is that same number on the jar?
  2. Is the sample the retail pack, or bulk or raw material?
  3. Who took the sample: the laboratory, or the seller itself?
  4. Which laboratory, in which country, with which accreditation and which accreditation number?
  5. Are there numbers in mg/kg, or only "conforms" or "pass"?
  6. What is the limit of quantification for mercury? Is it below 0.10 mg/kg?
  7. Was arsenic measured? Total arsenic or also inorganic arsenic?
  8. How old is the report, and does it still apply to the batch sold now?
  9. Was fulvic acid measured, with which method and on which basis (dry matter or as received)?

A brand that can answer all nine points publishes more than most products in this table.

Method and sources

  • Collection. Between 27 and 29 October 2026 we searched for products in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia and Sweden, and on bol.com, Amazon and eMAG. Only products with a public report file (PDF or image) were included.
  • Reading. We opened every report and copied the values as they appear, including "<" signs and the limit of quantification. Measurement uncertainties (±) are in the dataset where the report gives them.
  • Prices are the prices on the seller's product page on 29 October 2026, in the currency of the page. Mountaindrop prices are those of the Dutch web shop.
  • What we do not do. We do not test products ourselves, we assign no scores and we make no statements about effects or health. Shilajit is a food supplement, not a medicine.
  • Regulation. EU maximum levels: Regulation (EU) 2023/915, Annex I, category food supplements.
  • Updates. We check the reports and prices periodically; the date of the last check is above the table. New reports, also from brands now missing, are added after checking.

Frequently asked questions about comparing shilajit lab reports

Which shilajit has the lowest heavy metal content?

In the reports of 29 October 2026 the lowest lead values are at Naumuna (<0.01 mg/kg), Nature Heart capsules (<0.020), Human Pro (0.023), Shilafit (0.031), HimalayaKraft (0.040) and Green Helpers (0.052). Note that three of these reports state no batch number, and a low value only applies to the sample tested.

Are all shilajit products in the table safe?

All measured values for lead, cadmium and mercury are below the EU maximum levels of Regulation (EU) 2023/915. For Biomental the limit of quantification for mercury (0.2 mg/kg) lies above the maximum, so that report does not show conformity for mercury. There is no general EU maximum for arsenic; the measured values range from 0.044 to 2.9 mg/kg.

Why are Vitadote figures in the table if they do not come from an EU laboratory?

Because we apply the same rules as for other brands: we publish what is public, with the notes attached. Our certificate comes from the producer and is based on bulk. An EU batch test of batch VD202610 is being commissioned and the outcome will go into this table.

What does a limit of quantification of <0.01 mg/kg mean?

That the laboratory could not detect the metal above 0.01 mg/kg. The real content can therefore lie anywhere between 0 and 0.01. A limit of quantification above the EU maximum, such as 0.2 mg/kg for mercury, makes the report unusable for that metal.

Is a Eurofins report from India worth less than one from Europe?

Eurofins Analytical Services India is NABL-accredited and uses the same ICP-MS methods. The difference is usually the sample: in five of the seven Indian reports in the table the seller sent in a sample itself, sometimes 100 to 150 g of bulk. A report on the retail pack, sampled by the laboratory, says more about the jar you buy.

Can you compare fulvic acid percentages between brands?

Only if they were determined with the same method on the same basis. Titration, gravimetry and HPLC give different results, and a percentage on dry matter is higher than on the product as received. The 18 percentages in the table range from 5.27 % to 89.17 %, but part of that spread comes from the method.

May I use this dataset?

Yes. The dataset (CSV and JSON) is licensed under CC BY-ND 4.0: you may share and cite it unchanged, also commercially, with attribution "Vitadote". The table is updated; quote the date of the check when you use it.

⚠️ Disclaimer: Shilajit is a food supplement, not a medicine. This comparison contains only measured values from public laboratory reports, read on 29 October 2026, and makes no statements about effects or health. Consult a doctor for health complaints. Compiled by Vitadote (eCom IT B.V.), itself a seller of shilajit; brands can submit corrections via the contact page.

Conclusion: a lab report only means something once you know who took the sample, what the sample was, which laboratory measured it and with which limit of quantification. With those four questions you can judge every row in the table, and every brand outside it, yourself. FAQ: comparing shilajit lab reports

Which shilajit has the lowest heavy metal content?

In the public reports read on 29 October 2026, the lowest lead values are at Naumuna (below 0.01 mg/kg), Nature Heart capsules (below 0.020), Human Pro (0.023), Shilafit (0.031), HimalayaKraft (0.040) and Green Helpers (0.052). Three of these reports state no batch number, and a low value only applies to the sample that was tested.

Are all shilajit products in the comparison table safe?

All measured values for lead, cadmium and mercury are below the EU maximum levels of Regulation (EU) 2023/915 for food supplements. For Biomental the limit of quantification for mercury (0.2 mg/kg) lies above the maximum of 0.10, so that report does not show conformity for mercury. There is no general EU maximum for arsenic; measured values range from 0.044 to 2.9 mg/kg.

Why are Vitadote figures in the table if they do not come from an EU laboratory?

Because the same rules apply to Vitadote as to every other brand: what is public is published, with the notes attached. The Vitadote certificate for batch VD202603 comes from the producer and is based on 20 kg of bulk. An independent EU batch test of batch VD202610 is being commissioned and the outcome will replace the current rows.

What does a limit of quantification of below 0.01 mg/kg mean?

It means the laboratory could not detect the metal above 0.01 mg/kg, so the real content lies somewhere between 0 and 0.01 mg/kg. A limit of quantification above the EU maximum, such as 0.2 mg/kg for mercury, makes a report unusable for that metal because conformity cannot be shown.

Is a Eurofins report from India worth less than one from Europe?

Eurofins Analytical Services India is NABL-accredited and uses the same ICP-MS methods as European laboratories. The difference is usually the sample: in five of the seven Indian reports in the table the seller sent in the sample itself, sometimes 100 to 150 g of bulk. A report on the retail pack, sampled by the laboratory, says more about the jar you buy.

Can fulvic acid percentages of different shilajit brands be compared?

Only when they were determined with the same method on the same basis. Titration, gravimetry and HPLC give different results, and a percentage on dry matter is higher than one on the product as received. The 18 percentages in the table range from 5.27 to 89.17 percent, and part of that spread comes from the method rather than the product.

May I reuse the shilajit lab comparison dataset?

Yes. The dataset is available as CSV and JSON under the Creative Commons licence CC BY-ND 4.0. You may share and cite it unchanged, also commercially, with the attribution Vitadote. The table is updated periodically, so quote the date of the check when you use it.
